This section contains a number of separate subpages. They cover the DISS name from Essex. My interest stems from the name being on my paternal side. Therefore all my lists are ‘local’ pertaining to Halstead and extending a little over Essex. There are no known name variations to sort out. The name can be traced back in Halstead for several hundred years but with its origins not in Halstead.
The objective is to follow the Diss families of my birthplace, Halstead in Essex. To make the family tree I am using Brother’s Keeper by John Steed. This can be downloaded free from his website.
